Rebel Roadtest: Seasonal Garden Cafe

DSC_2954.jpg

Seasonal Garden Cafe in Hahndorf South Australia was a special treat to visit. The inside is warm, cosy and welcoming, with beautiful staff who love a good chat. The creative talent behind this Cafe is Silvia Hart, who took the time to tell us about her business and the exciting work she is doing with organic food in the local community and around Australia. Silvia is passionate about minimising food wastage and sharing that message to others.

The Seasonal Garden Cafe is just that, a cafe that serves meals made up of local produce that is in season. Their food is sourced from local producers, farmers and growers markets. The Cafe's menu changes frequently, according to what is available and in season. By the end of the week they will have an open plate night where you pay $10 per meal and let the chef create you something special. It is a way for the Cafe to use foods which may have gone to waste. It's this type of thinking that makes a difference.

Rebel Roadtest: Samudra

Samudra in Western Australia may be the reason why we left dunsborough a little broke haha. We ate there for breakfast, lunch and tea. It was just to good to go anywhere else! They have a great selection of smoothies & raw foods, using produce grown straight from their organic garden.

Samudra also houses two yoga studios and runs events regarding health, nutrition and sustainable living. These principals can be seen in their cafe and eco store, where they sell organic clothing, cushions and accessories.

It is such an awesome place to hang out at. The people who work there give off the most welcoming and friendly vibe, you feel like you can spend hours, surrounded by beautiful gardens, relaxing and eating yummy food. We are still craving their raw desserts!

The People's Market

The People's Market in Collingwood is held over the summer months in Australia but when winter rolls around store holders pack up their yummy food and tasty drinks, until summer the following year. Before the packing begins, they throw one last  hurrah, an awesome weekend of live music, DJ's and some of the best dumplings we have ever tasted. Yes, when we heard that this was their last weekend for the year we made sure to get there for the party. It was our city send off, some time in the big smoke of Melbourne before we hit the open road to cross the Nullarbor on our way to Perth. We will miss you People's Market, Collingwood won't be the same without you. See you next year!

Rebel Roadtest: La Plancha, Bali

We have left the vanlife for a couple of weeks to set off on an adventure overseas in Bali and Lombok. We love coming here for the amazing food, friendly locals and point break surf, we always leave with amazing memories. As soon as we stepped off the plane in Bali we were greeted by the smell of incense, smiling locals and crazy humidity. After arriving at our hotel, we changed into board shorts and bikinis and headed out to explore. Our first stop was catching up with a few locals who we love and stay in contact with, Agus and John from the tattoo shop, Nana our cheeky laundry lady and Rio from the surf shop. We love talking to locals, it's one of the best ways to get a true understanding of the culture and they always have the best tips for surfing and good food. After a morning of walking around the markets we were ready for a refreshing drink and some tasty food. Even though we have been to Bali several times we love finding new places to eat so we Googled bars on the beach in Seminyak. We saw an amazing picture of a rainbow cafe and we knew we had to check it out! We couldn't find an address or name so we got a driver to drop us off at Seminyak, hoping to find it. We walked along the beach until the most colourful shack you have ever seen caught our eye. We had found it, La Plancha! It was absolutely beautiful, it's amazing how fresh colourful paint can make you feel so happy. We had some beautiful juices and delicious tapas, perfectly relaxing. We left with a smile on our face and a beat in our step.

Garden 2 Plate is an amazing cafe in Killcare, NSW, Australia. There is something unique about this little jem of place. The owner's bright and bubbly personality immediately makes you feel welcome, the view from your table is to die for and the food is so fresh and tasty you are left satisfied and wishing it was lunch time tomorrow, so you could order another tasty treat.

That's the owner with his hands up, worth going just to hang with such a top bloke.

Rebel Roadtest: Tartt Cafe

Tartt, Forster, NSW, Australia. Tartt cafe caught our eye immediately. You know when you walk past a cafe and the vibe just draws you in. Tartt definitely had a cool vibe going on and in we were drawn. The menu was awesome with smashed avocado and feta on sourdough to blueberry pancakes with white chocolate sauce, mmm!!! We ordered our favourite poached eggs on toast and soy cappuccino's. The eggs were perfect and the coffee smooth, the food definitely won us over. With beautiful decor surrounding you while you eat, Tartt really is a great cafe. Beautiful food, beautiful staff, beautiful decor, Tartt, we'll be back.

People's Market

The People's Market in Collingwood, Victoria, Australia, is an eclectic mix of organic food, vibrant colours, beautiful apparel, funky home wares, fresh juices, stylish individuals and a pop up Poler Stuff store.  All of which makes for a fabulous place to spend your Sundays.  We hunted down the People's Market to score some new Poler Stuff gear as it is not sold where we live.  And wow it could not have lead us to a funkier little place, what a cool pocket of people and things to explore in the city of Melbourne.
